Google Reader, you just got less usable...

So, I have to say, the new interface isn't bad. It's the same as Google Docs and Blogger so I am used to it (Hey blogger, when can you fix my amazon associates widget in the new interface?). My main problem with the new Google Reader is the lack of sharing that isn't Google+1. See, in the old Google Reader you had a share button, or a share with note:
What this meant was that I had my own RSS feed of items that I shared, and guess what, I do use that RSS feed on my website to re-share items that are interested, funny or just weird! I could just "share the story... or "share with a note" where I could add my own commentary on the story
The other nice thing is that if you happened upon a page on the net that you don't subscribe to you could always Note it in Reader so it would go into your shared RSS feed.
Finally, people could subscribe to other people's feeds (if they allowed it) and you could see what your contacts shared and what they said about it.
Sure, you could do some of that with Google+, and I do use Google+, the only problem is that Google+ is a stream. I don't go back through my twitter or Facebook stream to see what people shared, but I did really care to see what my friends and contacts shared, so I don't want them to be mixed in with status updates and other things. I do share links on Google+, but the sharing type is different. Not all link sharing is the same, and even though I have circles in Google+, that doesn't solve the issue of the different type of sharing. Google, bring this functionality back!
