Well, I think that I will call this the year the Year of the Web 2.0 Bubble Burst.

This collapse has claimed another victim, Yahoo!'s own Social Network, Yahoo! 360. I have a Yahoo! 360 account (you probably saw it as one of my social networks on my homepage start page), but I guess I will be removing it from there soon given that Yahoo will be decommissioning the service in mid July. This just goes to show that the social network scene is over-saturated and it's quite difficult to make a splash (but not impossible).

The interesting thing was that in the email that I got from Yahoo telling me that 360 was closing, there was also a link to a site that is completely in Vietnamese which details the hows and the whys of the closure. I would not have guessed that Yahoo 360 was that popular in Vietnam, but it also explains why many of my local Vietnamese acquaintances were on 360.

360 will soon join Geocities and the old yahoo profile in the Yahoo graveyard. I guess I have to go take a Jing capture of my profile and the UI before the whole thing goes buh-bye. The features of 360 will be incorporated into Yahoo's new profile (which thus far I like, a combination of Twitter, Facebook and Digg)
