Missed some RW drama...

I guess the tech-world isn't spared drama, and it appears that I missed some of this drama this past summer! I was setting up a new Mac Mini and I was installing Rapidweaver. The version I have on-hand is RW8, and I saw that there was an upgrade notice to "Rapidweaver classic". Huh?🤔 Why get rid of version numbers? Well, it turns out that RealMacSoftware wants to make RW an annual subscription service (boooo), and have their own embedded plug-in store (OK, I guess), but the changes to this mean that past plug-ins won't work with the new architecture and many users seemed to have an issue with this, given that many people use a popular plug-in called Stacks (by yourhead). Some of the discussion (or flaming?) over the summer seems to no longer exist, but I guess RW Classic is a stop-gap measure that fixes bugs and maintains the current platform while Elements is finalized, and these two products will live side by side (at least for now?).
I've been using RW since the days of RW 3.0 (or was it 2.0?) in 2004. I've been using it to update club-admiralty.com, and over the past few years the updates to my site have been rather minimal, hence my falling behind in the latest-and-greatest RW news. That said, I am wondering how long I'll be staying with RW. It seems like the Blocs app might be a good replacement. Pinegrow seems to have a one-time license fee, UXWeb seems useful, and Sparkle seems to get an honorable mention. I guess I could also move everything to WordPress, but I really don't want to migrate my two blogs from Blogger. I'd prefer to have Blogger remain the CMS, and have whatever solution collect and display on whatever platform. Decisions...decisions... Maybe now would be a good time to create my Learning Nomad site...
