While I technically received my degree last September, the actual convocation day for Athabasca is today for all graduates who completed their degrees between June 2021 and May 2022. The ceremony is virtual and I am curious to see how it will be implemented.  I am certainly taking notes for my own work ;-)

AU sent us a care package with various festive items, some physical goods (cap, tassel, streamers, etc.), and some virtual (eg., a curated spotify list). There is also a dedicated website with a convocation digital toolkit. The toolkit includes zoom backgrounds, social media banners, profile photos, Instagram story templates, etc.  Nice idea! My personal favorite is the design your own mortarboard Instagram template. I don't have much time today to play with it, but I guess it's something I'll play with tomorrow ;-). Interesting side note: At UMB convocation is used when we all come back together in September, while commencement is used for graduation.  AU uses convocation for graduation. I wonder if this is a Canadian English vs. American English distinction.
