I had started this game in Madrid, once I had finished with the first in the series (China), but being back home also means a lot less time for games ;-) In any case, picking away at it a little at a time means that progress was made in completing it (sounds like a parallel for dissertation writing, eh? ;-) ).

The game follows Arbaaz Mir in Amritsar (India) in 1841, in the midst of a war between the Sikh Empire and the East India Company. Apparently this game takes place two years after the events of the graphic novel Assassin's Creed: Brahman (which I have not read...but I should if I want to complete the lore). Arbaaz must recover the famed Koh-i-Noor diamond, a powerful Piece of Eden that used to belong to the Assassin Brotherhood from a newly arrived Master Templar. While doing so, he must also protect his Mentor Hamid, and his love interest, princess Pyara Kaur.

The game follows the same 2.5D game style of Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China, and the art style of this game is (from what I understand) quite indian in nature.  I actually loved the color palette of the game, which I think made the annoying bits a little less grinding on the nerves.

This game explores the forerunners (ancient...aliens?) by having a certain percentage of the game take place in archeological digs, with the familiar (and deadly) architecture that we've seen in other assassin's creed games.  It seems a little off to me that these ancient aliens would create such huge structures and basically make them death traps...  Anyway - I digress.  This wasn't my favorite part of the game.

Overall I would give this game an 8/10.  It was fun, it entertained (I died a lot which was aggravating), and it progressed the lore of the assassin's creed universe.  That said, I think the controls still stink. A lot of actions seem to require you to use the keyboard...unless you want to attach in which case you use mouse keys.  On a keyboard + trackpad the distance between clicks is minimized, so it's passable, but certain areas of the game (for example those that require run-slide-strike) make it a little hard to accomplish with 2 hands since the distance from keyboard to mouse is not that short.    I did like the new weapons (like the rifle) which made the game much more enjoyable despite the control issues.  I know that this game is out on XBOX One as well, so I am wondering if it's possible to have better controls if I plug in my xbox 260 controller.  Maybe something to test out in the next game (Russia).
