Now, I don't know if I'd call this a "game" per se. It feels more like an interactive novel where you have some spots where you need to do some actions (that feel like mini games), and some spots where you need to direct the dialogue and story, and as such your decisions make an impact on what kind of outcome the overall game story will have.  That said, I rather enjoyed this  game and I seriously wish that this ship and crew see additional adventures in the trek universe, whether through more games, or through comic books (or both!).

In this story, you play both as the USS Resolute's new Number One (Commander Jara Rydek), who's coming in to replace the previous first officer who lost their life just before this game started.  The captain and the first officer go back a way, and I guess the captain wanted someone they could trust.  The other person you play as is Engineering Petty Officer Carter Diaz. Through their eyes you get to see the story unfold.  Without spoiling the story (after all, this is the kind of game you play for the story), the federation is brought in to mediate between two alien races that have escalated a conflict between themselves. The game's story connects to the TNG episode "The Last Outpost" (S1E5), so it is a bit of a deep cut when it comes to Trek lore. I didn't even remember this episode and needed to look it up.

I think the game left a lot of open threads that lend themselves to follow ups in game form,  screen-time, or book/comic form. The one bad thing about the decision-making is that writers need to choose a "canonical ending" to the game so they can build off that, but that's not a major problem IMO. Other games have done similar things in the past.

I am wondering if I should revist this game in the future and play it a bit less like a scout and more like a mirror universe person ;-) 

Overall, a 9/10 for me!
