Thundercats Roar
A while back...sometime during COVID, if I remember correctly. I started to watch it back then, but my original reaction to it was "WTF?!" I admit that I was expecting more of a repetition or modern reimagining of the original Thundercats (the 2011 version wasn't that bad), and what we got was...not that!
The core idea is the same...their planet exploded, they crashland on third earth, and they face off against enemies like the mutant and mumm-ra. You also have various friends and allies show up during the show. That's where the similarities end. Thundercats Roar is much more humorous, self-deprecating, and just weird-looking. I did end up sticking with it, but it took me a while to finish (as is evident by this post). I am glad that I stuck with it! The childish humor grew on me, and it the stories told were pretty interesting. I also rather enjoyed the deep cut references to Street Sharks and Silverhawks, which were television show broadcasts on third earth (who broadcasts on third earth?!)
The episodes are short, 15 minutes or so, so it's worthwhile checking out.
