This past weekend was quite a movie weekend for me.  I honestly have not seen that many movies in a while!  Some were good, and some were just plain disappointing!  Let me start off with my MAJOR disappointment:  Resident Evil Afterlife.  I really had high hopes for this movie. I meant to see it in the theaters, in 3D, but I ended up missing it. I think I was lucky that I did not go see it in the theater because it sucked big time!  The plot was almost non-existent.  We were introduced to some Umbrella corporation executive, who is probably a clone, but that didn't really further the plot. We did find out that Arcadia, the so called haven from the virus doesn't exist and that the Umbrella corporation is behind it so that they can experiment on non-infected humans. OK, it took you 90 minutes to tell us what I summarized in two sentences?  Yes, it did! you know why?  Because the movie was full of useless and gimmicky time fillers which obviously relied on 3D (like elongated bullet time shots).  What a waste of a movie!

Another movie was Karate Kid.  The movie was cute and it stayed true to the original Karate Kid (even though they didn't really do Karate, but Kung-Fu. If you had seen the original there were some  moments that really reminded you of the original in passing but instead of replicating what the original did, they turned into something new.  A nice homage to the original! The acting wasn't bad either. This was a nice dinner-and-a-movie type of flick.

Finally, 3:10 to Yuma. Now, I am not a western movie fan. At best I tolerate western films.  I think that this was the case with this movie. It wasn't bad, it didn't blow me away, but I tolerated it while I was watching. The ending actually surprised me! I think that the ending made me like this movie, despite my lukewarm reactions to the western genre.
